What is A Confidentiality statement?
Confidentiality means the feeling or belief that one can rely on someone or something; firm trust to keep discussions and materials private.
Depending on the type of appointment you choose there may be documentation that you fill out, like a client intake form, contract agreements and contact information. This information will be added to your file and will be kept secure. It is also possible that requested MP3 recording are made for your use in order to capture all the details of the conversation. If an MP3 recording is made, I will send you a copy for your records and use via encrypted email. It can be made as a CD for a $10 fee. Mail out cost will be separate.
I use a service called “Hightail” to send your MP3 recording to you. Once sent, the recording will be available for download for 2 weeks; so download it right away. The link with the download will expire after the 2 weeks and the recording on the server will self erase for privacy considerations.
Also in regard to minors, I request guardians to attend an appointment. I do not expect children to capture details of their appointment. Any follow up or exercises will need to be supervised so it makes sense for a guardian to be present.
The exceptions to confidentiality are if “ there is a clear and present danger to oneself or another, or the safty of minors is threatened”. What this means is that I have a duty to report to authorities and or a physician if these circumstances come up during an appointment .
